This timeline diverges from ours when the United States annexes the republic of Texas.

1845 - US annexes Texas.

1846 - Mexican-American War begins.

1847 - With Yucatán Republic’s defeat imminent, the US congress passes the Yucatan Bill and occupies the peninsula, with promise of adequate representation and a better future than with the Mexican Empire.

1848 - Mexican American War ends. US Annexes Alta California, Nuevo Mexico, and the Yucatan.

1853 - US seeks to purchase a southern corridor to California from Mexico. After systematically refusing, tensions are once again raised, finally provoking the second Mexican-American War.

1854 - US once again emerges as the victor and annexes Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, as territories, also the breakaway republic of Rio Grande with similar promises to it as to Yucatan. The Rio Grande republic is   admitted to the union as the two states of Coahuila and New Leon.

1856 - A surge of political and civil unrest, in what is left of Mexico, erupts after the conclusion of the war. The dissatisfaction of the people lands the final blow to the imperial government due to its inability to defend itself and maintain stability within the country. The US uses this opportunity to launch an occupation of the unstable nation. The entirety of Mexico is occupied and Santa Ana's conservative imperial government is liquidated. The US sets up a republic, playing on the Mexican people’s will for liberal reforms, but effectively rendering Mexico as a US protectorate.

1857 - Of the territories gained in the second Mexican-American War, none are permitted to have slavery, due these territories under Mexico already having actively abolished the practice prior. Washington had to compromise its plan to strictly contain the expansion of slavery into the new southern states. This adds to significant tension between the southern states and the north. It further distances the south from Washington's rule. The southerners believe that slavery should expand southwards in order to keep the practice alive.

1861 - Lincoln is elected, the newly formed Confederate States of America secede, claiming Alta and Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, New Leon, and Yucatan as destined for slavery. Union troops maintain control in Mexican territories, a blockade in the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico is set up, and subsequent fronts launched from all angles into CSA whittle away its success. Many troops from Rio Grande, Yucatan, side with the union in an effort to finally eradicate slavery from the New World. West Virginia separates from Virginia and is admitted to the Union.

1863 – Confederate States surrender. As reconstruction begins, congress focuses on the expansion and colonisation into the new territories to stray attention from the effects of the civil war.

1867 – Alaska purchase from the Russian Empire.

1868 – British Columbia's movement to join the US succeeds. They vote to be admitted to the Union; feeling that they are neglected by the British Empire.

1869 – Due to economic downturn after the end of the Reciprocity Treaty of 1854, and British efforts to force them into the newly established Dominion of Canada, Nova Scotia declares ascension to the United States. Government and military officials pledge allegiance to the U.S and after a week of negotiation, they are admitted to the union. With what is seen by many as inevitability of joining the U.S. And the decline of British rule in North America, New Brunswick declares annexation. Prince Edward Island, fearing being left politically cut off from the mainland, follows its Atlantic neighbors into the union. Before the British could mount a response, their major access to North America has fallen out of their hands. Denouncing the colonies as traitors, they warn the US to remove their forces from the three regions, or face war. However after a long standoff, the parties agree to hold a referendum, which results in the three states confirming their admission.

1870 – Using the precedent of the Atlantic states, the Québécois attempt to break free from British rule. However their efforts are unsuccessful; Britain cannot let them secede as they would lose their only access to the North American continent.

1871 – The US purchases a region of territory in the Northwest Territories to provide better land access to Alaska. The region is incorporated as the Territory of Yukon.

1874 – The protectorate of Mexico is partitioned and shortly admitted to the Union as full states. These states being Durango, Saint Louis, Veracruz, Central Mexico, and Tabasco.

1878 – Tensions with Guatemala on the issue of the status of the disputed Chiapas region leads the US to launch an invasion and occupation into the small country, eventually establishing a protectorate. This is justified by deeming the Guatemalan government as volatile and oppressive, and that the people of Guatemala need 'liberty'.

1894 – With major protests and dissatisfaction of British rule by Québécois and Irish decendants in Ontario, referenda are held to determine the future of the British North America. It is seen that ascension to the US is the natural course and the provinces Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba and the districts of Alberta, Assiniboia, Saskachewan including the remaining territories, vote for ascension to the US, effectively stripping the British Empire of its remaining North American colonies.

1898 – Due to tensions between the Spanish Empire and the US caused by disputes of influence over the Caribbean, the Spanish - American war breaks out, triggered by the sinking of the US naval battleship, Maine, in Havana harbor. A quick US victory ends with negotiations and the US subsequently gaining Cuba, Puerto Rico, The Philippines in the Pacific, along with the island of Guam. This was the last blow to the unstable Spanish Empire. From this point on, the US sees itself as the inheritor of the failure that is European empire. They begins focusing on active involvement in the Pacific and East Asia. The Republic of Hawaii is also annexed this year.

1900 – Purchase of British Honduras from the British Empire after they relinquish efforts to create a cross canal.

1901 – Shortly after, the US also purchase the Mosquito Coast, which angers Nicaragua as they claim that the strip of land was annexed by the British from them in the first place. Purchase of Haiti and Dominica. A                       systematic purchase of Caribbean Islands of the Lesser Antilles begins.

1903 – Invasion of Honduras, which in the eyes of the US is a“Banana Republic”, run by an unfit government. Panama is ceded from Colombia to US influence, as a result of interests in building the cross continent canal.

1904 – Invasion of El Salvador.

1905 – Invasion of Nicaragua and Costa Rica.

1908 – By now, all Islands of the Lesser Antilles have been purchased. Purchase of Trinidad and Tobago.

1910 – Purchase of British Guiana. The British are willing to sell off much of their smaller territories to make as much money off of them as possible and to focus on their colonies such as India and Australia, rather than risking them possibly seized by force with no profit.

1911 – Purchase of Dutch Guiana. Guianese war breaks out after disputes of the border with Venezuela. US victory; ends with the annexation of Venezuelan Guiana and its incorporation into Guiana Territory.

1915 – Disputes with Brazil on the southern border of Guiana erupt with war. It ends in a stalemate and a subsequent peace treaty with which the region of Roraima is halved. The US can retain the occupied northern half, as far as the town of Boa Vista.

1917 - As the US tries to develop its influence in East Asia, it sees a other empires as threats to this expansion. As the Russian revolution breaks out and seeing it as the beginning of the decline of another failed European empire, the US sees this as a chance to prevent any future Russian incursions into the Pacific, and to gain ground on the other side of the ocean to protect their interests and trade, especially with China. The Far East Siberian regions including the region of Outer Manchuria are all seized, taking all of the Russian Empire's access to the Pacific Ocean. The regions are incorporated as Unalaska Territory and Outer Manchuria Territory.

1923 - Sabah annexed for Phillipines Territory

1939-1945 – WW2 as in OTL. Many island territories acquired from the Japanese Empire in the Pacific Ocean.

1940 - Greenland is purchased from Denmark, in a plan to use its location strategically against the USSR in the cold war.

1946 – Phillipines are given their independence. Sabah federated with Malaysia.

1955-1970 – The US takes part in many Cold War proxy wars especially in East Asia. The Communist ideology had spread from the USSR to China and further as in OTL, the distraction of European reconstruction led to this rise. Korean War and Vietnam War happen as in OTL. Other actions include freeing of West Papua from Indonesian annexation and eventually given independence and unification with Papua New Guinea.

1981 - Palau, Guam, Mariana Islands, Micronesia, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Tuvalu, Tokelau, Kiribati, American Samoa form together to make the state of South Pacific. The Capital is established in Marshall Islands' Baikiri.

1992 - After fall of USSR, Unalaska and Amure are given statehood (Their capitals being Kamchatka and Bloodywoodstock, a corruption of 'Vladivostok', respectively). Ascension prior was blocked by aggressive soviet threats to start a nuclear war if the US did in fact give them Statehood. Most of the original Russian inhabitants had been deported during the time of the Cold War and McCarthy-ism.

1999 - The territory of Nunavut is separated from Northwest Territory, after a plebiscite takes place lead by the Inuit people, calling for self-governance.

Today, United States of America is the largest nation in the world and has the largest national economy by nominal and real GDP. Having amassed a total of 95 states and 8 Territories, and inhabited by a population of 601,158, 723, it is the 2nd largest democracy in the world (after India). Its capital is Washington, located the federal district of Columbia. The US also possesses the largest and most advanced military, and maintains a prominent political and cultural influence. Certain regions, however, possess influential cultural and secessionist movements, mainly in historical Mexico, Central America, Cuba and Quebec. These issues eventually culminate in a referendum in 2031, in which the states that compromise most of OTL Mexico vote for independence (similar to the Scotland-UK referendum). Subsequent referenda result in the independence of the nation states of Central America and of Cuba.

You know Putin today probably promise to the Russian people that he will some how get the two American states in Siberia back for Russia. The problem is thee hundreds thousands of Americans living in those two states . but looking at what is happening in Ukraine in real life. Say The Russian Federation purposely has Russan immigrants loyal Russia move to the states Unalaska and Amure just like what happen in eastern parts of Ukraine, their probably be a risk of war with between Russia and the USA as I'm sure Putin would try to reclaim Russia lands in Siberia even though those two states are firmly full of Americans and part of the USA, second the Americans in those two Russians American states would not want to leave their home states and would always be making this clear often on social media, third Russia would only be able to ever get their land back if they went to war and possibility used nukes as well. I doubt the Russian government could win a war against a strong USA, even if communist China and north Korea back them up. They would have to commit horrific genocide against the American civilians and milithas living in those two states.

North Korea might actually collapse if they get so paranoid via launching an all out desperate attack against south Korea, same goes with China Makes regime would be very paranoid of a strong United states even in the 21 century.
